2-The man sitting beside her was in his mid-thirties with fair hair شعر أشقر and dark face. She thought he was German as he had a strange accent لهجة غريبة He was born in south Africa but he had an American passport. He was neither a tourist nor a businessman.he looked as if he worked outdoors a lotبدا كمالوكان يعمل بالخارج كثيرا he said he was a mining engineer مهندس تعدين
3- He asked if it was her first visit and if she was going on holiday but she said that it was a business trip

4-Dr,Hafez was a friend of her father so she used to listen to his stories about his work and decided to follow his example تحذو حذوه .she didn’t study with him and did her degree at Italian institute المعهد الإيطالي in Rome as people might say he gave her special treatment ربما يقول الناس أنه أعطاها معاملة خاصة

Hafez didn’t think united mining was working in Peru. Such people aren’t archaeologists. They don’t care about things of the past. They sell monuments that should be in museums for every one to see.so Leila should be careful .Leila felt her face grow hot as she told him some information about their work.

When Amalia asked Leila how much she knew about the Inca civilization , she said that she studied it at the Italian institute and read Dr.Hafez reports
3-Amalia said that Dr.Hafez was the reason why Leila was in Peru but Leila said she was experienced and would be useful in the excavation as she worked with Dr. Hafez in the tomb of Sennofer
4- Amalia showed Leila around the site saying that they might have found a royal tomb as the chimu sometimes built their toms in the hill sides that called the hill of the king. The Incas conquered the chimu but they allowed their kings to rule in case of being loyal to the Incas and sent kings’ sons to Cuzco to make sure of their loyalty

Chapter (6) :Hafez, Leila and others entered the tomb by ladder. They used flashlights helmets, trowels to clear up the earth from the bones and brushes to clean stones. It was tiring work as there wasn't much air in the hot tomb
2-They found human bones, some pottery, a piece of cloth and a skeleton of a man in the sitting position. They gasped because the skull was broken, there was a big crack across it. Dr Hafez thought that he might have been killed but Leila thought that the falling rocks made that crack.
3- Dr Hafez spoke in a whisper, as if he didn't t want to disturb the dead. The skeleton may have been of a nobleman or a king but they needed to find a mask of gold to be sure. They used the laser machine to date the cloth – it was around the year 1400 – the middle of the Inca period.
4- They used trowels to clear away the earth from around the bones. They used brushes to clean the stones and bricks. They were working hard as they have got a short time before the UNESCO inspection. They had to find something definite.

The Incas used llamas like we used camels to carry heavy things
7- That gold llama made it more likely that it was a royal tomb. They still needed to find a mask of gold to be absolutely sure. Dr Hafez insisted on taking Leila a photo holding up the gold llama. All the team went to Quenco to have dinner but Leila decided to take some rest in her hut.
8-At night, she needed some fresh air so she went out towards the tomb. The door wasn't completely closed and there was a light coming from the tomb so she went there to see what was inside.
Chapter ( 7) 1-She saw a man she guessed from his back. He was using a trowelمسطرين to scrape the earth away أزاح التراب from something . she climbed down the ladder into the cave.she hid إختبأت behind a big rock the man directed his flashlight in all directions في كل الاتجاهات وجه الكشاف
2- When she reached the bottom she realised she made a mistake. She could have called for help instead He saw her when she was moving behind the rock كانت تتحرك خلف صخرة to see what he was doing. She accused إتهمت Lander of stealing سرقة things that should be kept in museums تحفظ في المتاحف for people to see.
3- He said he was a collector مقتني أثار who appreciate يقدر fine things. He was sorry as he didn't find a gold mask as it is rare and valuable. He climbed the ladder تسلق السلم and pulled it سحبه then he closed the door and trapped her ثم أغلق الباب وحبسها .
4- She didn't t cry as no one would hear her .It was dark and cold so she slept and had a terrible dream حلم فظيع. She saw a skeleton تمثال of a king carried on litter محفه by 4 soldiers coming towards her skeletons surrounded her إحاطتها and soldiers used their swords سيوفto attack her so she wake up استيقظت
5-The next morning she cried صرختfor help .Dr. Hafez and Ramon climbed down to save herلينقذوها . Dr Hafez
was surprised how Lander found the tomb so easily بسهوله Ramon said that he must have asked in Cuzco or Quenco. Leila said that Amalia might tell him but Hafez said that he trusted her يثق بهاand she couldn't do anything like that but she might have said something carelessly بلا حذر, so Dr Hafez decided to tell the police and to talk to Amalia
6- As the police spoke only Spanish, Ramon was translating. They had to find Lander and the artifacts تحف he had stolen but it wouldn't t be easy. The police asked Leila some questions, they thought Lander would be out of the country, so they should call the immigration department قسم الهجرهat the Airport but he must have a false passport جواز سفر مزيف
7- Amalia told Hafez that Lander had many contacts إتصالاتin Peru he helped her to find her first job and knew her father but she didn't talk to him about her work

Chapter ( Cool 1-The gold mask was stolen سرق the police found that the safe's lock قفل الخزينةhadn't been broken لم يكسر, so it was opened with a key . Dr Hafez thought that the thief got into the hut through the open window and opened the safe with a key.

She found the gold rabbit by chance after Leila s discovery. She kept it a secret and put it in Leila s clothes to get her into trouble
4-Amalia said that Lander might be in Acomayo as there was another excavation يوجد تنقيبtaking place يحدث there and he told her that he was keen to to go there متحمس للذهاب هناك
5- They phoned Dr Hafez. Communications were a problem in Peru and the roads were so bad that it could take days to get to some places in bad weather. If there were no landslides, it would take them five hours to reach Acomayo. Amalia was a good driver but the road was narrow, high , steep and stony.
Chapter ( 9)1- they left for Acomayo in thick cloud سحاب كثيف and dangerous road It was like being on a plane. Sheep and goats appeared like ghosts أشباح . Amalia might have lost her concentration فقدت تركيزهاor the road was broken so the car turned on its side إستدارت على جانبهاand rolled over the edge >>وتدحرجت على الحافة .Leila had pains in her legs and arms with a cut on her face. Leila had training in the first-aid so she could save Amalia who couldn't move, so Leila thought she was dead. After that she opened her eyes.she had her leg broken.
2-Leila got her out of the car,put a blanket under her ,covered her with the other and made a splint جبيرة .The mobile was broken. Amalia had self denial إنكار الذات when she asked Leila to leave her and save herself. She was as tough as Incas
3- Amalia told Leila that she was talking to Lander about the damage he did to her family as he worked with her father and deceived him خدعه . He persuaded him to put up some money for a silver mine منجم فضة but there was no mine and her father lost his money , so Amalia hoped to arrest him to take revenge تنتقم . Leila wanted to catch him as he stole the gold mask and for Amalia s sake
4- Leila asked her forgiveness السماح / العفو as she thought of her badly. To find help, Amalia told Leila to walk towards Acomayo and taught her some words: Ayuda-me pronto, por favour= Please help me. she reached few poor houses , she talked to a woman who couldn't understand her as but many people here spoke only Quechua, so she called a man who brought a litter أحضر محفة which reminded Leila of her dream to carry Amalia with 2 women to the house where they gave her a hot drink and some leaves to chew and gave Leila some bitter tea and bread. . She couldn't t sleep as the bed was rough خشن and Amalia was crying
5- they spent a night in the company of the hospitable village people. Leila took a bus to Acomayo to find a doctor. The bus was full of people with hens, chickens, boxes and parcels. She found a public phone and tried to phone Dr.Hafez but the line was bad. She only told him that they were in Acomayo. She saw a sign read Medico (medicine). The woman assistant understood Leila as she spoke a little English. She drove Leila to the village. She examined Amalia and ordered a helicopter to take her to hospital in Cuzco as it was urgent. For the first time, Leila wasn't nervous. She was thinking of how to save Amalia and how to catch Lander.
7- Dr.Hafez told Leila that Pablo said he he was so tired and excited that he forgot the keys in the hut by mistake. So Dr.Hafez suspected him and falsely told him that the project might and that Martin was arrested , so Pablo confessed that he helped Martin who offered him the money he needed for his sick son. he led a hard life with a little pay.
8- Pablo would meet Martin in cuzco at 8 o'clock after only 2 hours, so Leila suggested setting a trap to follow and catch him there was no time to tell police
Chapter ( 10)1-Hafez, Ramon and Leila followed Pablo 's taxi until he reached a house and entered it, then he went out and called a taxi
2- Lander went out of the same house and drove a truck شاحنة to the air port but not to the main entrance as Ramon said. He felt he was followed so he left the truck and opened two metal gates trying to escape in a small single-engine plane but Leila jumped into his truck and started its engine. She drove at the plane and knocked it on its side.Lander was knocked out hitting his head against the roof of the plane
